Q: Ulcer Symptoms?
Can someone tell me the common symptoms of a stomach ulcer? I think I may have one … I have heartburn all the time and intense nausea after I eat .. so much in fact that I have to take an anti-nausea to avoid vomiting. I have an endoscopy scheduled for the end of January that should tell more on what is going on. In the meantime, does anyone know if this sounds like an ulcer, and what I can do to relieve my symptoms? I do limit caffeine and I don’t smoke. Thank you!

A: You may have what is called gastric esophageal reflux disease and/or gastritis. As the previous writer said, avoid spicey, acidic foods including tomatoe based products. Also, eat smaller more frequent meals, avoid eating 2-3 hours before bedtime, try cutting out all caffeine(hard to do but it will make you feel better) as well as no alcohol. You may want to try an over the counter med such as Prilosec. It did wonders for me when i had the same symptoms.
Good luck hon. Hope you feel better!

Q: What are the symptoms of duodenal ulcer or any ulcer in the digestive system?
What are the symptoms of duodenal ulcer or any ulcer in the digestive system?
plz help fast…

A: There are many signs and symptoms from either or both of these. From bloody or black colored stool to constipation that isn’t relieved after 2-3 days. The duodenal is a part of the colon and the symptoms are usually different from a stomach ulcer. The stomach ulcer can still have you bringing up blood or having it go through the entire colon, then there can be allot of gas that isn’t relieved, to not wanting to eat at all. You can also vomit blood from an ulcer. Since the colon is about 25 feet of a turning open tunnel it wraps around and then up then around until it finally turns down toward the rectum and anus. If you suspect any problems with any part of the digestive system which includes the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and gallbladder and then the appendix until finally the colon and down try going to a GI doctor for a complete exam of this system. As you get older it’s a great idea to have your digestive system checked for any problems including polyps and or cancer. Good luck and God Bless

Q: what are the symptoms of a stomach ulcer?
I have been stomach aque after what ever i eat no matter if its healty or coffee, i was told i might have a stomach ulcer what are the symptoms, because im only 23 and when i eat my side hurts like if it was right by ribs when its hurting.

A: The Vagus nerve connects from the spine to the stomach, so the pain can be felt in the back as well as the stomach, or side. You need to see a doctor to have the test for the H. Pyloric Bacterium, if you have the bacterium, the doctor will give you two weeks antibiotics to kill it and then probably a course of Nexium to cure the ulcer where the bacterium was. Don’t let this go, pain is always a warning that something is wrong. And ulcers can perforate, which means the contents of the stomach, food, stomach acid, blood will be dumped into the abdominal cavity. When this happens it requires surgery.

Q: what are the symptoms for a perforated ulcer?
i think i might have a stomach ulcer, how do i know if its perforated, what are the symptoms, please help me. thank you
well i have painful stomach pains right now but how painful would it be if its perforated like would i be crying from pain?

A: A perforated ulcer is usually extremely painful. Think acid (from the stomach) on the lining of your abdomen.

Q: what are the symptoms for ulcer? is it good to avoid breakfast to reduce weight?
my height is 180 cm and my weight is 84 kg, so my friend said to reduce weight by avoiding breakfast and i am practising it for 1 month and i am experiencing slight burning effects in my stomach? what is the reason for that and i am suspecting wether would it be the begining of ulcer? what i am supposed to do next.

A: Symptoms of an ulcer include burning in the stomach and nausea. Skipping breakfast is probably not the best idea, rather portion control would be better.

Q: I think I have an ulcer… What are good and bad foods to eat, and what are the symptoms of an ulcer?
Last thursday, I began having odd feelings in my stomach and chest area, which turned into nausia. Then, I went to the doctor, and he did some tests, ruling out kidney and heart problems, so the remaining things on his list were: Ulcer, Digestive Problem (kinda vague, huh…) and anxiety disorder. I think I have an ulcer, because after I drink orange juice, eat chocolate, or spicy foods, the symptoms become worse… I’m going to another doctor soon (the first one was just a walk-in) To (hopefully) get tested, or something… Anyways, what are good foods to eat, that won’t upset an ulcer, and what are some bad foods for an ulcer? Also, it seems like anything remotely worrying causes it to kind of burn, it’s weird… Is that characteristic of an ulcer? I don’t think I have an anxiety disorder, though, because of the food thing… Anyways… If you’ve ever had an ulcer, please tell your story… I hope it’s not too hard to get rid of….
I meant last thusday as in over a week ago.

A: Foods and anxiety/stress can cause an ulcer to flare and cause pain. I’ve had two, both have healed, with diet and learning to control anxiety and stress, directing it better instead of holding onto feelings etc. As you stated, oj, chocolate, spicy and acidic foods, all will cause you discomfort. A bland diet is usually best until you get the symptoms under control. Your doctor’s statement regarding a digestive disorder should be vague, as it could be irritable bowel syndrome, a Hiatal Hernia, or many other issues that are not deadly, but cause you to have stomach upset. The hernia will cause you to have heartburn, gas, pressure from the gas making you feel tense and uncomfortable. Anxiety and worry can cause your body to produce excess acids, that eat at the stomach and sometimes back up into the esophagus. Irritable bowel can cause stomach discomfort, along with bowel movements that sway between constipation and diarrhea, with cramping. You will likely be given an upper GI test, drinking barium and following it to see if there is an ulcer. Once that is ruled out, or verified, your doctor will give you a menu so to speak, or foods that are good for you and ones to avoid. If you are like me, it’s the foods you love that will be eliminated from your diet. Mine healed within six months, but I do get stomach upset when holding stress/anxiety. Something you learn to live with, and learn about your coping skills.

Q: Do the following symptoms seem indicative of an ulcer?
Based on the following symptoms, do you think I have an ulcer? If doctors and/or persons who have had ulcers before could answer, that would be preferable to someone who simply provides me with a web link – I have already Googled the symptoms.

My only real symptom is an odd pain that accompanies feelings of hunger, that mostly occur at night. That is the only symptom. Is that enough to be an ulcer? Is it possible that it’s something that could go away on its own?

A: Possibly, eating coats the stomach which might stop the pain temporarily.

Q: If you have an ulcer, what are the symptoms of it exploding?
My bf has stomach ulcers. Right now he is in intense pain. He says he chest hurts extremely bad. It has happened before but I honestly think he is going to be okay. He doesn’t want to go to the ER because it takes about 6 hours before they will even see you. I thought that the symptoms were puking or coughing up blood. Does anyone know the symptoms?
He has been diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and he hasn’t been taking his medicine as often as he is supposed to.

A: ring anh ambulance straight away.
this can be life threatening.
my mother has one & she has bad chest pains but sometimes its a false alarm

coughing up blood, dizzyness, lightheaded, really really bad chest pains.

ring anh ambulance.

Q: I have what looks like a very faint corneal ulcer on my eye but i am not experiencing any other symptoms?
when i look in a mirror and look really close i can see a very faint white circle on my iris. I looked on the computer and found corneal ulcers. they look similar to whats on my eye (but whats on my eye is a lot less noticeable). i am experiencing no other symptoms of a corneal ulcer though. does anyone know what this could be?

A: stop self diagnosing yourself go and tell your optometrist your concern and let that person decide what it is better and smarter

Q: How long after getting a stomach ulcer would you notice symptoms?
Yesterday I drank alcohol, took advil, and all on an empty stomach. I ate something right after I took the advil though. I’ve done this before and didn’t know it was bad but then found out this morning. It was last night that I did the drinking and had the advil, and now I keep having meals and like right after I eat I feel like I have an empty stomach and it kind of hurts and I heard that’s what the symptoms are. Is it possible for it to be there that quickly?

A: There are more problems than just a stomach ulcer that would cause discomfort in your abdomen. I hope that you have some insurance so that the right tests can be done. I know. I am going through the same thing. Pain from not eating, pain from eating..Pain in the general area of my tummy.
The worst thing about stomach problems is that they are so tied in with your emotions as well. Stress can be a MAJOR cause of problems and physical damages from an ulcer or whatever (I am not a nurse or doctor) causes you to be unable to live normal and eat normal food.
Get some help and probably take a break from the juice…not good. Your choice. Good Luck.

Q: What are common symptoms of an ulcer?
I think I might have an ulcer, but don’t want to see the doc unless I’m pretty sure that’s what it is.

A: Burning pain is the most common symptom of a peptic ulcer. The pain is caused by the ulcer and is aggravated by stomach acid coming in contact with the ulcerated area. The pain typically may:

Be felt anywhere from your navel to your breastbone
Last from a few minutes to many hours
Be worse when your stomach is empty
Flare at night
Often be temporarily relieved by eating certain foods that buffer stomach acid or by taking an acid-reducing medication
Come and go for a few days or weeks

Q: Why is it when I have stomach pain (ulcer type symptoms), my upper back and neck go out of wack?
I am 36 years old and I periodically have my stomach start to hurt about two inches above my belly button and my upper back goes out. It has been happening since my teens. It typically happens like two or three times a year and last about a month. It is a pain in the neck! I mean, it is a pain in the stomach! Can some super genius tell me what is going on?

A: I would advise you to go to a licensed chiropractor. I believe (from my own experience as a patient) that the stomach pain may be just weak muscles, meaning your spine is not getting proper muscular support. I was skeptical when I first saw a chiropractor after I was in a bad car accident, but when he totally relieved my back and neck pain I became a believer! Hope you can get some relief. – M

Q: What are the symptoms of a stomach Ulcer?
What are the symptoms of a stomach and what do you do if you have one?
What are the symptoms of a stomach Ulcer and what do you do if you have one??

A: A stomach or gastric ulcer is a break in the tissue lining the stomach. Basically they can appear in the first part of the stomache or the small intestine. There are alot of causes of stomache ulcers and it could even be as simple as you have eaten something you shouldn’t have, in that case it would be a extreme case of a gastric disease like my grams has.

Some stomach ulcers are asymptomatic. The symptoms of a stomach ulcer can include:

Abdominal pain just below the ribcage
Indigestion
Nausea
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Weight loss
Altered blood present in the vomit or in the bowel motions (occasionally)
Symptoms of anaemia, such as light-headedness.

I strongly suggest to avoid getting any worse, get it checked out by a doctor, then at least you can be sure. Good Luck
