Q: Mouth Ulcers?
I have braces and I have horrible mouth ulcers like 6.
I also have fever in them and even my prescription medicine isnt getting rid of them.
I already tried the salt water and mouth wash.
Almost nothing is helping.
Im numbing it right now with orajel until I can find a way to get rid of it.
Please any suggestions would be nice.

A: Try to put wax on the brackets that are rubbing on those areas. Keep doing the salt water thing as it does help heal the mouth. Your braces are rubbing and causing this so I’d imagine the wax will help. At least it will allow the pain to subside for a while.

Q: mouth ulcers?
I get mouth ulcers all the time. I’ve researched everything and can’t seem to pinpoint what is causing them. I’m currently taking vitamins and thinking about changing toothpaste. Anyone else have the same problem or have any suggestions?

In Pain

A: I have worked in the dental profession for 18 yrs. Mouth ulcers are common and can be very painful. try Adcortyl in Orabase paste 10g. and use a Mouthwash called Gengigel, its all natural stuff but really helps. Is there a chance your iron levels are low? this can cause ulceration. They should always clear up after aprox 7 – 10 days. Ask your dentist for a referral to a specialist if you are worried.

Q: Mouth ulcers?
Why do we get mouth ulcers on the tongue and how can they be prevented?

A: Wash your mouth with warm salt water. They can be caused by stress.

Q: Mouth ulcers and burnt feeling in the roof of my mouth?
I don’t remember burning the roof of my mouth, but for the last 5 days the roof of my mouth has been really painful as if burnt. I’ve also got quite a few mouth ulcers and generally sore lips. It hurts to eat. I’ve been rinsing with Oraldine (UK brand mouthwash), but it’s not easing.

Any suggestions?

A: Time to get it checked out you might need antibiotics to clear it up .don,t let it get worse.

Q: Can mouth ulcers be the result of the flu or a morning sickness?
My mom has a sore throat, her ears hurt, drowsiness, chills, and she has a fever going on and off throughout the day. The symptoms started about three days ago.

My mom also just discovered that she has gum disease on one side of her mouth.

Are mouth ulcers a result to either of these?

A: I have 4 in my mouth right now as well as the flu. They are known to hit when the immune system is down trying to fight the flu virus it then can’t protect the mouth. I don’t know if the gum disease has an effect. I have been put on a strong anti bacterial mouth antibiotic to take care of the ulcers. The flu just started yesterday. Two days after the ulcers began. If you can afford it I recommend seeing your family doctor so they can help out with both. Maybe a dentist for the gum disease.

Q: What causes mouth ulcers and how can you prevent them?
I suffer from mouth ulcers and have not found any reasons why I get them when I get them. There are simple OTC treatments out there but I am interested in prevention.

A: there are so many ulcers and of course any reasons for causing them. you need to describe your ulcer more specific.in which part of your mouth you have them? how often do you get them?
if you have recurrent aphtus ulcers, you may have some other systemic disease or some immune system problems. take them serious.& consult a doctor.but remember:Any ulcer in mouth area which isn’t heal in a proper time should be checked by a specialist.

Q: How do you prevent getting mouth ulcers?
I suffer from ulcers terribly every few months. I’m fit, heathly eat a well balanced diet, but every so often I get them and about 4 or 5 at a time in my mouth. I think it may be due to stress or lack of sleep as we have a new born, but i may be wrong. Is there any way I can prevent these. I obviously use bonjela when I get them.

A: Treat any you have with very hot & very salty mouth washes. Hurts like hell but will clear them up quickly. I’d suggest looking at changing to a toothpaste that doesn’t contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (foaming agent) as this has been found to be the guilty constituent behind many cases of mouth ulcers. There is a make called Hollytrees that doesn’t contain SLS & you can get this in your health food shop. I’m sure this will sort your recurrent problem out.

Q: How can i get rid of my consistent mouth ulcers on the insides of my lips?
I have HUGE mouth ulcers & they last for a few months at a time. I cannot talk aloud very well without extreme pain!!! I wanted a quick cure for the ulcers & any tips that may help. Please answer as quckly as possible, because I cannot withstand the pain!!!:(

A: The usual reason for reoccuring mouth ulcers like yours is anaemia.
A treatment with iron tablets, available from the Chemist, will help heal the ones you have now and prevent new ones.

BUT it’s a good idea to have a blood test done first to see what else you are defeciant in and how low your iron levels are.

For now, use a numbing agent such as babie’s Bongela (teething gel) and rinse with warm, salty water.

Q: What is the best way to prevent mouth ulcers/canker sores?
I get ulcers aka canker sores in my mouth all the time. I get one, it goes away, then the next day another comes up. My doctor gave me apthasol with makes them go away, but do any of you know of a medicine that will prevent them? Or atleast do better than apthasol?

A: You usually cannot prevent them. They are brought on by a virus in your body. Sometimes you can get them when you have been or will be sick, as your immune system is not in full force. Other than that, keep your fingers out of your mouth and rinse with warm salt water 2-3x a day.

Q: How can you cure cold sores and mouth ulcers?
I’ve recently been getting a lot of cold sores around my lips and mouth ulcers, I know it sounds disgusting but I really want to find a way to cure them and prevent them in the future. Please help!

A: Wear lip balm to protect cracked lips from evolving into cold sores. I found that a really good option is to drink lots of homemade lemon juice – squeeze some lemons and add a little water, and drink it – or you can do it with oranges. This has lots of Vitamin C in it which relaxes the ulcers a little.

Q: What is a good way to get rid of mouth ulcers?
I have one ulcer in particular on my cheek, right at the back of my teeth but between the two sets, and I keep biting it with my back teeth. It’s been there for about a month now! Q: How to get rid of mouth ulcers forever?
Is there a way to heal mouth ulcers. My mother in law has 5 at the moment and no medicine helps. She’s been using heomopathic and chemical medicine for a long time but the ulcers never go. If they go, it’s for a very short time and then they appear again. It’s really bothering her. I think maybe it’s the lack of certain vitamins because I eat a lot spicier food and if ever get an ulcer it goes in one night. I would appreciate any advices! Thank you!

A: I have been suffering from mouth ulcers since 30 years ” thirty years “
Mouth ulcers is due to :
1. Constipation .
2. Worries : constantly thinking about others & their problems
3. This leads to blood pressure of ” not-to- be concerned ” type which is also dangerous
4. Food.
5. acidity .
6. fatigue .
7. side effect of certain medicines which is being taken daily.

There are many but the above 6 are very common.
JUST like some have acne on the cheeks but in this case of acne is inside the cheeks ( that is inside mouth ).

Folic acid deficiency is also a major factor in this.

The all cure for this is MEDITATION : & MEDICINE FOR Folic acid deficiency& ANTI ACIDITY TABLETS ON DAILY BASIS till the condition becomes stable.
later lots & lots of water should be taken daily.

- god bless you

Q: How long does it take for mouth ulcers to go away?
I am sick and have a mouth full of ulcers/soars. I’ve gone the the doctor and they said “soon” – well, it’s painful to swallow and talk and it hurts in general. When will this go away? I am miserable!

A: Hi Kristen

The healing of these ulcers depend on the type and severity of infection ,it could be from bacterial, viruses or fungal infection
In general it may take 10-17 days to heal completely with the use of some corticosteriods and antibiotics but if its apthous there is no need for treatment it will heal spontaneously
(the treatment depends on diagnosis)but when your doctor said it will heal soon, so its an easy case.
you must avoid hot drinks and waters at this time and rinse your mouth with fluride
