Q: Can I take allergy medicine while taking Nexium?
I was diagnosed with GERD a week ago, but also suffer from horrible allergies. The ER doctor never said anything as far as taking one or the other, but I can’t skip a dose of Nexium but the allergies are really bothering me. What should I do?
A: I have both GERD & Allergies. I take multiple medications for both.
I think it’s okay for you to take both.
If you want to email me & tell me your allergy meds ,pls feel free to go to my profile.
Q: probably a dumb question but can nexium (medicine for reflex disease) effect ovarian cyst?
because ever since I started taking it I have noticed a dull pain in my ovary. I take birth control for my cyst and it usually never hurts. But when I started to take my nexium then it seemed like it starting hurting again….what could it be? thanks for answers in advance
A: Not that I am aware of, but I would recommend checking with your pharmacist as well to see what they say.
Q: Dr prescribed me Nexium for indigestion. Does this medicine work for that?
I don’t ever get heartburn, just bloating and gas.
A: it works wonders. it really does.
Q: Over-the-counter Prevacid/Nexium-type medicine?
My doctor had me taking Prevacid for about 3 months, and told me that if the symptoms I was taking it for recurred, to try an over-the-counter medicine that had the same type of effect – but for the life of me, I can’t remember the name of it. Any ideas?
A: Zantac, Tagamet and Prilosec are OTC. Nexium and Prevacid are prescription only.
Q: i tooked medicine supplin & nexium and im pregnant for 10weeks?
A: If i was you I would call the doctor and ask him to do some research on those medicines and what they can possibly do if anything to pregnant women…
Good Luck
If you read on the back of the medication it usually tells you if it is safe or not to take during pregnancy.
Q: Is it ok to take Nexium with Tylonol Severe Cold Medicine. ?
Nexium is prescribed to take daily for acid reflux.
Tylenol Cold Head Congestion Severe Active Ingredients = 350 mg of Acetaminophen (for fever), 10 mg of DextromethorphanHBr (Cough Suppressant), 200 mg of Guaifenesin (Expectorant), 5 mg of Phenylephrine HCI (Nasal Decongesrant).
A: yes, there are no interactions….if Nexium is all the patient is taking?
Q: Have any of you taken Nexium or Prevacid for acid reflux while you were pregnant?
It’s a category B drug which means it is generally safe in pregnancy but would you take it? And i’m not talking about minor heartburn i mean severe, wanna-die, moaning in pain on the floor, battery acid burning your insides kind of heartburn. That’s the kind of heartburn I get if I don’t take my medicine. I’m not pregnant but I am thinking about the future and I want your input please. I appreciate it.
A: Actually yes I have because I have severe digestive issues even when not expecting. With each pregnancy since having my gallbladder removed I throw up the entire time and have severe stomach pain. My doctor prescribed Prevacid and I toke that up until they discovered I was allergic to it. Now they have me on Zantac for it and that seams to work well in helping me keep food down. Trust me i understand not wanting to take something but if its severe enough to where you cant hold food down that not good for a baby ether. That’s why I decided to go ahead and take it so I could have the vitamins the baby so vitally needs. Just so you know my 11 month old was born perfectly healthy after taking these during pregnancy as well. If your doctor prescribed it then they have taken in to account the risks and I think you will be safe. Good luck and hope this helps.
Q: What is the best natural/alternative medicine treatment for GERD?
My doctor prescribed Nexium for acid reflux, but I really hate taking drugs. Any suggestions?
A: Calcium carbonate, a well-established short-term remedy for heartburn. Some supplement manufacturers combine calcium carbonate with DGL .
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) is a highly regarded herb used as a demulcent (an agent that soothes and coats mucous membranes) and has been shown to be as effective as the drug cimetidine (Tagamet) in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease. DGL can help restore the vital mucous lining that protects the stomach itself from hydrochloric acid.
When the esophagus is inflamed by acid reflux, aloe vera juice can provide quick, soothing relief by reducing acid output and soothing and coating the mucous membranes. Aloe vera juice is not the same as the herb aloe, which is a potent laxative.
If you’re troubled by frequent indigestion or if food feels “heavy” on your stomach, consider taking some digestive enzymes with each meal. Double the recommended dose if you’ve eaten an especially large meal.
Self-Care Remedies -
Eat frequent small meals instead of one or two large ones; this will prevent excess production of stomach acid.
Limit problem substances, such as coffee (including decaf), alcohol and fatty foods.
A pleasant alternative to coffee after a meal is a cup of warm herbal tea–chamomile, ginger, peppermint, marshmallow, meadowsweet or slippery elm–which has the added benefit of relieving heartburn discomfort.
Stay up at least three hours after eating your last meal or large snack before going to bed.
Raising the head of your bed several inches will put gravity to use in preventing reflux during the night.
Chewing gum can provide short-term heartburn relief by stimulating the production of saliva, which dilutes and flushes out stomach acid. Drinking a glass of lukewarm water after a meal may produce a similar effect.
Q: For how long can I take Nexium (proton pump inhibitor)safely?
Nexium is medicine for the treatment of reflux disease(GERD)
A: theoretically, indefinitely
Q: Assistance to acquire a medical prescription drug “nexium” in Kenya?
I am trying to trace medical institutions which deal with gastro-intestinal ailments, or organizations which can help me in getting the medical drug “Nexium” which I am supposed to take to cure an agonizing acid burning my stomach. Due to legal reasons, wellwishers outside Kenya cant help and I am asking if such people, NGO’s or individuals exist locally who can assist me get this very expensive medicine. I simply cannot afford it and am leading a very painful and miserable life. Starved, since I cannot take food without triggering massive uncontrolled acid production which goes on to burn in the stomach until I vomit or take palliatives such as Actal
A: Nexium is esomeprazole. I wonder how it is so costly, it is not where I am. Anyway, you may try to get Lansoprazole (Lanzap)which may be less costly or even Pantoprazole (Pantop) that may serve the purpose.
Good luck!
Q: Can PPI’s such as Nexium make a person gain weight?
Also, is it okay to stop this medicine cold turkey?
A: My husband takes those and they work so great that after he takes them for a week he can cut down to every third day. After about 2 weeks he can stop and take them about twice a week. They are great for the stomach. He hasnt gained any weight.
Q: will an ulcer heal to where i can drink alcohol like i did before?
ive had an ulcer for about 2 months and ive been doing good by taking medicine “nexium” and not drinking alcohol and i think my ulcer has been doing better. im afraid to drink alcohol still. will my ulcer heal? and will i ever be able to drink alcohol again like i did before?
A: The medication you are on is allowing the ulcer to heal and treating the symptom not the cause you need to find out why you have the ulcer in the first place sometimes helicobactor pylori is the culprit this is a bacteria treated with antibiotics. Until you find out why you have it you need to lay off alchol it will only put stress on your immune system which you need to be in ship shape to fight the invader.
If you have no luck with your doctor do lots of research on the web maybe your gut flora is out (if you have helicobator it will be) in that case PROBOTICS will help but not until your ulcer has healed if you have been taking antibiotics you need probiotics because of the damage to your flora.
Help yourself do lots of research on the web and make sure you have a healthy diet no coke or junk food your immune system needs all the help it can get. And remember Doctors don’t Always know all the answers i had to cure my own reflux as i hated being on medication.go to www.earthclinic and look at heartburn it worked for me but only when i cut out junk. Hope this helps.
Q: Does the same prescription medicine cost different at different pharmacies? ?
Example: A prescription for Nexium 20 mg will cost, say, $35 in CVS and in Duane Reade–for the same medicine/dose–it costs $50.00.
A: Well, you answered your own question. Yes. There are price differences according to the pharmacy used. Some of these are due to the size of the store or chain. A chain like CVS is going to buy more Nexium for all its stores than a little mom & pop pharmacy. Because they by more, they get a better price from the pharmaceutical company that makes it. To get the cheapest price look into getting a 3 month script from your doctor and check out a mail order outlet. They usually have the best prices. Of course, this may not be possible with narcotics.
Q: Can you have gastritis and acid reflux at the same time?
I was diagnosed with gastritis not too long ago but I have been showing acid reflux symptoms for awhile. Is it possible to have both of these at the same time? I am on Nexium, is this medicine for acid reflux as well? Thanks.
Acid reflux disease symptoms with gastritis.
A: Yes I have also suffered from these at the same time. I did my own research and discovered it is caused by a bacterial infection in the gut and cured mine by eating lots of unsweetened yogurt. It puts the balance of good and bad bacteria back into the stomach. Try it and good luck.
Q: Heartburn medicine during pregnancy?
I’ve already tried every over the counter medicine for heartburn, and my doctor prescribed me Nexium, and its not working. Are there any other presciption drugs that can help? I’m at the end of my rope.
sorry but ive already tried zantac and malox:-/
A: I actually had this exact same problem while I was pregnant with my son and it ended up being caused by my gallbladder so,I would have your doctor look into checking yours. I had no problems/signs before I was pregnant and then had horrific heartburn the entire pregnancy and shortly after giving birth I started having attacks. I have since read that gallbladder problems are very common to show up during pregnancy. I hope you can find something that works for you.
