Q: where can I find assistance for my nexium medication?
I have insurance but the insurance company refuses to pay for it and I will have to pay 130.00 for 30 pills addition to the other 17 medications that I currently take. They put me on Protonix but that does not help.
Please help

A: you could try writing to the manufacturer of Nexium, they may have an assistance program.

Q: Can my Nexium medication hurt my cat?
I had my pill on the counter (40mg) and now it’s gone.I’m worried that my 5 month old kitten may have done something with it (possibly swollowed it).

A: Cats are sensitive to chemicals, more sensitvie than dogs. If you notice the your kitten is acting abnormally or you notice a change in eating habbits, or a change in her bowel movements such as diarehha you may want to contact your vet.

I’m betting though that your cat most like just knocked the pill of the counter and was playing with it and eventually your kitten knocked it up under something where she can’t reach it. Just keep an eye on your kitten and watch for unusual behavior.

Q: If you take heartburn medication (prilosec, protonix, nexium, etc) can you still get food coming up?
I’ve taken almost every kind of heartburn medication there is.. and it DOES get rid of the burning feeling, but food still goes up my throat and out my mouth, and it’s disgusting.. anyone else have this?

A: You got more going on than just GERD. Make sure you are not laying down after eating, and don’t over stuff yourself. Watch what type of foods you eat also. I had to delete a lot of things from my menu. Make sure you are drinking a lot of water also. I found that helped a lot. If this happens at night when you go to bed prop your head up higher in the bed. Make sure you tell your doctor about this also.

Q: What is medication is close to Nexium from over the counter?

A: MY HUSBAND TOOK NEXIUM BUT IT WAS WAY TO EXPENCIVE SO HE SWITCHED TO PRILOSEC AND Aciphex. THEY WORK SO SO GOOD. YOU SHOULD GIVE THEM A TRY!!!

Q: Why does my bottle of Nexium tell me not to drink while taking this medication.?
I am not drinking anyways because I am pregnant, but I can’t figure out why you can’t mix the two. I tried to google it but came up with nothing helpful. Anyone know why?

A: In some people, alcohol can cause acid reflux to be worse. So while there isn’t a drug interaction between Nexium and alcohol, it may cause a person to have more symptoms. I’m sure that’s why the medicine has that warning on the bottle.

Q: Which of medication is the most likely causing my nervous feeling stomach: Prozac, Nexium or Minocycline?
Nexium 20mg taken in the morning, Prozac 10mg taken at night for PMDD but I take it 24/7/365 rather than only days 1-14 of cycle and Minocycline 50mg taken at night for blepharitis.

A: I would say the minocycline. Antibiotics are famous for upsetting the intestinal track. Minocycline also has anti-inflammatory properties which would make it hard on your stomach and you already have problems with your stomach hence the use of Nexium. Here is a link to read about Minocycline.

Q: Any medication for gall bladder disease. Has tried nexium, prilosec, and prevacid.?
My friends husband is having severe abdomanol pain went and had a ulta sound and found nothing. Any recomondations to what it could be?

A: It could be stomach or small or large bowel disease. He should see a gastroenterologist so they can do tests and make recommendations.

Q: I am looking for an equal medication to nexium but low cost.?
note: I don’t notice heartburn but I get a stomach ache if I don’t take it…pain like an ulcer I guess.

A: Try Prilosec OTC (Over the counter) – this works the same way.

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve had better luck with Tagamet and the like which you can get at your local drugstore. Also, they make generic brands of those which are SO much cheaper. Walgreens, Wal-Mart, CVS, etc. All have it.

I take one in the morning and one in the afternoon and I’m fine.

I also keep some chewable rolaids for those emergency occasions :)

I lost my weight fast using this weight loss program. You must have look correct info that works. I lost 22 pounds after 45 days with this weight loss program. I highly recommend you. You can find more info here link below.

Q: Reverse effects of Nexium (acid reflux medication)?
I took nexium for several months for acid reflux, but stopped taking it because I heard it can stop your stomach from producing acid. Now, I notice if I take a vitamin or pill that has a thick gel coating they are not as effective as they used to be. I think my stomach acid is not able to break down the gel capules effectively. Anything I can do to increase my stomach acid naturally?
Thank you.

I have noticed that if you put a pill in water the gel coating will slowly melt. However, I read through the link you gave and I notice at the end it stated

that a study showed that those taking high doses of PPIs for longer than one year have been found to be 2.6 times more likely to break a hip. Theories as to this cause is that the reduction of stomach acid reduces the amount of calcium dissolved in the stomach.

Another reason I was looking to reverse the effects of the acid reflux medication.

A: Take an HCl supplement, e.g. Betaine Hydrochloride.

Q: Hello can you please help me on this medication?
hello I only want honest answers if you have truly used this medication. Its called Nexium.
Does it help you to breath better or does the medication only help to heal the lining on you gut?
Also how long should I take Nexium for?
I have been taking it for aprox 7 days now, do I need to go get a repeat or not?

A: I don’t believe that it does anything for breathing. It’s for GERD or acid reflux. My husband has acid reflux with a hiatal hernia and takes Nexium. If he misses a dose, then he throws up all day and night. If the doctor has prescribed it for you, then there’s a good reason and you should keep taking it.

Q: what harm will come of taking nexium when not needed?
prescribed nexium for acid reflux but for thirty days having severe pain for two hours each day. what if I really shouldn’t be on this medication?

A: Nexium is a very dangerous product. It is used to neutralize acid in the stomach. The truth is that it does just that; it neutralizes not only the acid from rotting, putrefying food due to low stomach acid, but it also neutralizes the very thing that will create good digestion, HCL.

This has got to rank one of the most ridiculous products ever to be put on the market and then promoted as a way to get rid of GERD. It’s the perfect product for drug companies to sell. It’s very cheap to make and can be sold for a lot of money, it stops the digestive process causing loads of toxins to get into the colon & liver creating many diseases as a result of the dysbiosis it creates in the intestine. It neutralizes the lactic acid and makes a person feel like they are doing the right thing and best of all, it creates a dependency on it so the person gets hooked and takes it for years.

Think of all the drugs a person will need to take as a result of fowling up their digestion.

The harm is that you will STOP YOUR DIGESTION IN IT’S TRACKS putting toxins into your body. Why not solve the problem once and for all and promote good digestion at the same time.

It takes less than 3 minutes to get rid of the acid indigestion or reflux by taking a very inexpensive form of HCL that is from a once living source. The HCL provides the action that is what your body is designed to do. You can have a month’s supply for less than $15. Just look at what that Nexium is costing you and you will see why drug companies do not want to sell you the HCL.

good luck to you

Q: What is best medication for acid reflux / Gerd?
I, and alot of people I know, suffer from chronic bouts of acid reflux, Gerd and various acute stomach disorders. What I want is something that provides IMMEDIATE RELIEF and something that is LONG-LASTING meaning that by merely using this product/medication I will get incrementally better. Is there any product out there (besides Tums, Mylanta, Prilosec and Nexium) that can provide instant relief and be curative? Thanks to all of you for your time.

A: Forget Prevacid. Prevacid actually is bad for you in the long run as it will produce brittle bones. For anyone wanting to do research and understand acid reflux / GERD, go to the CNN website and under the Health Tab you’ll see videos on acid reflux and GERD: http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/healthology/. Having said all this, there is a new all-natural medication out there called STOMACIN-U: www.stomacin-u.com. I’ve tried this and it works great! It’s effects are immediate and the benefits seem to be cumulative! My friends have used it also and they swear by it. We’ve all thrown out our other otc medications and actual prescription medications. They can’t touch Stomacin-U. Consider that it has NO SIDE EFFECTS as do the other medicines out there. Try it and you’ll be glad. Your reflux problems will be over!

Q: Can I take prilosec rather than nexium?
My doctor prescribed me Nexium for my severe heartburn and esophagus damage, but my insurance will not cover the medication until the authorization goes through. Trouble is I’m going on vacation before I’ll be able to get the medication and of course my Doctor is on vacation now too. I’ll be moving around a lot on my vacation and I cannot take the prescription with me. Can I take Prilosec, which is over the counter, until I return from my 10 day trip, and will it help me? Is it safe to switch between the two medicines?

A: I took Nexium for years and my prescription benefits ran out- because Nexium is so expensive! My doctor put me on Prilosec instead. I have to take 2 of them for it be effective (I was on 40 mg of Nexium), but it works! I don’t think it sticks around in the body as long as Nexium, because I can’t be late taking it, tho, or my heartburn returns! Good luck!

Q: What are the dangers of taking Nexium?
Are there any side effects that the doctor or information brochure may have failed to mention? Does anyone have any experience with this medication? What is your opinion? Should I be taking this?
I live in Canada and have health care so I don’t have to pay for it.

A lot of members of my family have excess stomach acid, I think it may be genetic (The doctor who prescribed it to me said that was likely). My mom and sister both take medication for similar problems. I am very careful about what I eat, so I don’t think poor nutrition is the cause of this. I have considered that though.

A: I take it once a day. I have acid reflux so bad that I get heartburn from drinking water. I works great, but you MUST remember to take it EVERY DAY. If you don’t your symptoms will return. Like all medications it may take 24 to 48 hours to feel any relief.
