Q: what are the signs of acid reflux?
im thinking that my almost 6wk old son might have it. he eats about 4oz out of a playtex drop in bottle and he hardly burps every time. a few times he has threw up alot and sometimes he spits up but not on a daily basis and its only like once a day if he does. sometimes when he almost spits up it gives him the hiccups. do you think this could be acid reflux? if so, im gonna call his pediatrician tomorrow. thanks!
A: Our son had reflux when he was 4 weeks old. He did alot of the same things you just described. He would eat about 2-4 oz, but he’d burp. And throughout the day he’d throwup. Even if it was an hour or two after he ate, it would just come back up. Our doctor put him on Zantac. He took that until he was about 9 months old. I then thought I’d quit giving it to him because I hadn’t noticed him acting the way that he did. He hasnt had any problems with it since, and he’s 11 months old now. Babies can out grow reflux, so hopefully if your little one has it, he outgrows it too. Good idea to call his pediatrician though. They will help you.
Q: Can voice/ vocal nodules mimic the signs of acid reflux?
If a nodule goes untreated could it cause reflux?
A: Nodules have their own symptoms and are cause specifically by damaging the vocal chords in a way that builds up callouses (yelling, poor singing) Yet acid reflux CAN affect your singing. The acid in your throat and mouth can be aspirated into your trachea and begin to limit your vocal range. A doctor can be the best one to evaluate your voice and solutions
Q: What are the signs of acid reflux in a newborn?
A: My 4 wk old was just seen for acid reflux/gerd.
The peds doc actually told us it is genetic-which makes sence because both my mother and i have suffered from GERD and reflux issues since I can remember, even tried to correct the problems with surgery.
For him- he’d eat a lot and spit up everything. He constantly had hiccups. He has sounded congested since birth basically. And he gets very frustrated while eating/burping.
I know a lot of people (babies and adults) that have serious refulx problems, so dont let anyone tell you that it’s probably just an overdiagnosis on your part. Reflux is painful, and it can cause serious erosion. I had my nissan fundoplication (surgery to correct reflux) at 20 years old, but it was a painful uncomfortbale 20 years.
Q: What are all the signs of acid reflux in an infant?
A: My baby has acid reflux. His symptoms are:
vomiting – not just a little spit up but a full blown vomit
making like he’s chewing when there’s nothing in his mouth (this is the acid coming up into his mouth)
crying when he burps or vomits
Restlessness and unhappy when he is laid flat after feeding
There can be other symptoms also. Here is a website all about it www.reflux.org.au it helped me understand and identify it.
BTW – My baby is now taking Gaviscon Infant and it has helped a lot.
Q: What are signs of acid reflux for a baby a can it happen to newborn?
A: Symptoms may include:
crying a lot, fussy
gassy
spitting up
spit up and breath that smells like stomach acid
crying after spitting up
uncomfortable in a horizontal position
rattley, congested sound in the throat
spitting and sputtering (as our doctor referred to it)
choking and/or almost choking
fussy after feeding
These were the major symptoms in my son. Yes, a newborn can have it. If you think your baby might, take him to the doctor. There are things that can be done for it, like switching formula or modifying mother’s diet if breastfed. There are also medications they can give them, like Zantac. The doctor may also have other recommendations to reduce the pain and symptoms.
Also, there is what is called ’silent reflux.’ From what I understand, this is reflux without spitting up. I described the symptoms I’m familiar with, but they can vary. Good luck.
Q: Is reoccurring sore throat and cough a sign of acid reflux?
I have had reoccurring sore throat followed by a cough every month for like the past four months, and here lately, chest pain on my left side. the doctor has mentioned i might have acid reflux in the past when i was vomiting at random times, but that has stopped for a while now. i know all of this is signs of acid reflux, but my case is weird and everyone is different. would mild acid reflux cause me to have a sore throat over and over??
A: well he should have done an endoscopy to rule out GERDS if its not. if it is he needs to put you on some kind of medication. coughing is a symptom but that also is a symptom of asthma which is induced by GERDS. believe it or not GERDS is a condition that should be treated properly. bc it can cause damage in the long run. so he needs to start running some tests and stop with the princess shit some DRs do bc theyre lazy. GERDS can come and go depending on foods you eat also….smoking will worsen it as well as acidic foods and eating before bed. i had to stop smoking bc of our lovely friend acid reflux i have asthma bc i wasnt taking proper care of myself. also sleeping on your left side and elevating your head will help if you have bad heartburn. idk i hope this info helped

Q: Acid Reflux in 17 month old boy?
My son’s doctor has treated him for acid reflux (Gerd) since he was born. Now that he’s 17 months old he hasn’t been spitting up since he was 13months old. So I took him off of his medicine but how do I know for sure if it’s completely gone. What are the signs of acid reflux in a toddler age child?
A: My 14 month old has the same thing. If they start gagging or throwing up for no real apparent reason, than… be careful. My son does it all the time, and it is real gross and I am getting tired of cleaning up throw up.. but what can you do? You gotta love em!! =)
Q: Are constipation & acid reflux very early signs of preggo?
Sorry if TMI, but are they? I am @ 9 days past ovulation.
A: They were for me. I noticed the slow digestive tract before I even missed my period. Make sure to drink lots of water and eat fresh fruit that should help some. If not go for a daily fiber drink or tablet to help. Good luck.
Q: Could this be acid reflux or signs of an ulcer?
Hi, I’m a 19-year old female and I get heartburn quite frequently. This has been happening quite some time now and I never have had a drastic change in my diet or anything like that. It gets really bad to where it keeps me up at night, sitting up usually helps with the pain and makes it less severe. And no, I don’t eat right before bedtime.
There’s been a couple of times that when I’m eating, when I swallow, it literally HURTS. Right in my chest area/breastbone. And I never had this happen to me before but, these past couple of months, when I’m done eating, I hiccup. And I only hiccup ONCE, and its a big hiccup and it kind of hurts my chest.
My grandma says I’m too young to have acid reflux disease and that usually middle aged people get it or elderly people, and she suggested I might have an ulcer.
Any ideas? Help? D:
A: You need to make an appointment with a GI specialist.Your grandma is right, you are young, especially if you watch what you eat and have not gained a lot of weight. This happened to me when I was pregnant.
Q: what are sign of acid reflux?
what are signs of acid reflux in a older person
A: Heartburn. That’s basically it. If you get heartburn often you could have acid reflux.
Q: Acid Reflux?
What are the common signs of acid reflux? – My 3 month old sleeps great in his swing during the day and eats every 3-4 hours – at night he is up every hour/hour and a half wanting to nurse – I am wondering if its because he sits up a bit in the swing?…Thoughts?
He doesn’t really throw up at all – sometimes, but not often…
A: The fact that he sleeps better in the swing is not enough evidence to say he has reflux. Young babies tend to like the rocking sensation and many sleep better that way. However, take a look at this webpage which gives you a great description of some of the other signs of reflux in babies.
http://www.cradle2kindy.com.au/artiles-health-reflux-symptoms.html
I had no idea my son had reflux because I wasn’t aware of some of the symptoms. I thought he was just a fussy baby who slept poorly. If you do suspect he has it, take him to his doctor right away since the symptoms may worsen without treatment. My son is on two different drugs to control his reflux and we would be lost without them. But he has severe reflux and was in horrible pain before treatment. Sometimes reflux can be controlled by simple changes that do not involve medication.
Q: Does acid reflux affect your heart?
Cause I am pretty sure I have acid reflux, plus the doctor told me i did. But I was just wondering cause tonight my heart has been bothering me a little, well it feels like a my heart. But my heart was pumping kinda fast a minute ago, and now it has slowed down some. And then I will get a pain in my left part of my chest. Not to terrible of a pain, but it kinda feels like a muscle gettin inflamed or twisting a little. But I was just wanting to know if acid reflux affects your heart. And if you didnt mind, could you tell me the symptoms and signs of acid reflux.
A: it cant harm ur heart but i can say that sometimes when i eat it makes my heart race and when i have constipation i have heart skips and racing too and if i eat and go to bed i will get up with in an hour and have a racing heart and shortness of breath and if i wil sit up for about 30 minutes it gets better then i can lay down again and also sometimes if im having the racing or sensation of flip flopping i can eat a few bites of food and it slows down so they say it cant affect it but yet i dont know why it occurs after some of us eat and too i have been sick for a few weeks and mine has really been acting up so there are many things that can trigger it.
Q: Acid Reflux or Pregnancy ? ?
Okay, let me start with a little background. I am 19 years old and On the 13th of December, I had sex. We used protection, but the condom came off inside of me. (sorry if that’s too much info). We didn’t know where it went, so when I got back to my room, I felt around for it and immediately pulled it out of me. I was due to get my period on the 21st, and just like always, I got it and it started off light and brown. Usually, my period will be really heavy the 2nd and 3rd day I have it. This time, it stayed light and only got a little heavier and redder as the days went on. It still lasted for the full 5 days though. Recently, I have been feeling sort of weird. I’ve noticed that I will feel very hungry and almost immediately after I eat, I feel hunger again. However, I have also noticed stomach aches, almost gas-pain like, and burning throat after I eat, which I know could be signs of Acid Reflux? I also have been feeling kind of light-headed which I guess could be because I haven’t been eating too much due to the resulting stomach aches. I plan to take a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side, but I wanted to get anyone else’s opinion?
Also, I’m on birth control but missed my pill the day this happened, but I took it as soon as I woke up the next morning. I’ve been on the pill for about 2 years
