Q: Reaction to Aciphex acid reflux medicine?
This is my second day of taking it and i noticed my nasal passages have been more stuffy. Could this medicine cause that? I already have rhinitis due to allergies outside now, but could this medicine make it worse?

A: Aciphex is the trade name for the drug Rabeprazole which has the common side effect of rhinitis (or a stuffy nose). If this is bothering you please talk to your doctor or pharmacist about an alternative…

A: No listed as a side effect. Cotton mouth is also not listed. I thought maybe that could add to a stuffy head. If you are taking allergy medication you might check the name of it with this drug and interactions. Maybe you will find you cut back on allergy meds. Keep a little log and see how it progresses for follow up to the Doc. And remember you can always consult with your pharmacist.

Q: Is it safe to take 2-year old prescription medicine (ACIPHEX)?
The label on the bottle indicates the pills are to be discarded on September 2008.
Expiration date is September 30, 2008.
1forHIM, I don’t know why it didn’t occur for me to call the pharmacy. Good idea. ((((1forHIM))))
Jack: That is something I did not think about. It’s supposed to be taken once per day. It’s not “as needed”.

((((Kerilyn)))) ((((Jack))))
LOL, Holy Smoked.

A: Hi (((Darth)))
I think the best thing you can do, is ask
your DR. or Pharmacist.
I wouldn’t take it, if it’s that old.

Love Ya, 1forHIM

Q: So, have any of you heard of this new medicine called “ACIPHEX”(lol)?
http://www.aciphex.com/
Imagine getting paid for naming a medicine like that^_^

A: My husband takes it and swears by it.

Q: For the medicine AciPhex, it says to take it in the morning before breakfast. Does it matter if I just wake…?
up at 4PM? Or do I have to wake up at like 10AM to take it?

Thanks,
~Arthur

GIVING OUT BEST ANSWER!

A: Take it when you get up. The idea is to have it working BEFORE you start eating. So, if you get up at 4pm and eat later that day then take it when you get up. You can take it with food or even after eating, but it might not work as well for most.

Q: Best OTC medicine for acid reflux disease?
I have been taking a prescription, Aciphex, but it is very expensive and I need something else. Are there natural remidies that will help?

A: Either Gaviscon or Rene’s, but really, POM acid-suppressing drug are better if reflux is a persistant problem. There are two classes of drugs, – proton pump inhibitors and histamine receptor blockers .

The proton pump inhibitor is better.

Q: What is the best acid reflux medicine?
silent acid reflux (LPR)

Nexium
Protonix
aciphex

And what is best with the least serious side effects. I heard some can cause loss of vision :0

A: There has been a lot of press release lately about certain acid reflux medicine being related to the risk of bone fractures, this includes nexium and prisolec….
I have acid reflux myself for years until i found my body not responding to prisolec and nexium anymore…thats why i was so thankful when i discover a natural remedy for acid reflux…it basically includes home remedies, healthy alternatives, proper diet, change in certain lifestyle etc. it does not involve any antacid and medications, just a holistic approach to treating the problem….

Q: what is the best acid reflux medicine?
silent acid reflux (LPR)

Nexium
Protonix
aciphex

A: All of these are pretty much the same in both reducing acid reflux and side effects. They have very few side effects and they are all about the same. I have never heard of loss of vision and if it ever did happen with any of them, it would be extremely rare and not something you should worry about. These medicines are used by a very large number of people with relatively few side effects.

Select the remedy that most closely matches the symptoms. In conditions where self-treatment is appropriate, unless otherwise directed by a physician, a lower potency (6X, 6C, 12X, 12C, 30X, or 30C) should be used. In addition, instructions for use are usually printed on the label.

I suggest that remedies be used as follows: Take one dose and wait for a response. If improvement is seen, continue to wait and let the remedy work. If improvement lags significantly or has clearly stopped, another dose may be taken. The frequency of dosage varies with the condition and the individual. Sometimes a dose may be required several times an hour; other times a dose may be indicated several times a day; and in some situations, one dose per day (or less) can be sufficient.

If no response is seen within a reasonable amount of time, select a different remedy.

Q: N AWHY THE F*CK DOES ACIPHEX HAVE THESE SIDE EFFECTS? CANYONE TELL ME HOW COMMON IS COMMON?
In adolescents, the most common side effects with ACIPHEX include headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

In adults, the most common side effects with ACIPHEX include pain, sore throat, gas, infection, and constipation.

I would just like to state that this is complete bullshit. every medicine i am perscribed for my nausea, has a fucking side effect of vomiting and dhierria, how is that a help?

can anyone tell me if those side effects are common in aciphex?

and fml

A: Every single medication, prescribed or over the counter can have side effects that may make taking it unacceptable. How common is common?

Aciphex has been studied extensively in clinical trials, with over 1,000 people worldwide having been evaluated. In these studies, side effects occurring in a group of people taking the drug are documented.

Based on these studies, the most common side effects of Aciphex included:

Headaches — up to 9.9 percent of people
Diarrhea — up to 4.5 percent
Nausea — up to 4.5 percent
Vomiting — up to 3.6 percent
Abdominal pain (stomach pain) — up to 3.6 percent
Pain (the type of pain was not specified) — up to 3 percent
Sore throat — up to 3 percent
Flatulence — up to 3 percent
Infection — up to 2 percent
Constipation — up to 2 percent.

Just because a side effect is listed doesn’t mean that you will develope it. As you
can see vomiting has a 3.3 percent which means that out of 1000 people tested 33 people
had this side effect. Does that mean you will? No but you MIGHT.

The only way to know for sure is to try the medication, putting the side effects out of your
mind and see if you develope it.

Q: Heart burn treatment medicines?
Do you know if Aciphex or other GERD medicine such as Prilosec, Prevacid or Nexium harm the liver if taken in lon duration. Thank you.

A: You should not use this medication if you are allergic to rabeprazole or to similar medicines such as lansoprazole (Prevacid), esomeprazole (Nexium), omeprazole (Prilosec, Zegerid), or pantoprazole (Protonix).

Before taking rabeprazole, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs or if you have severe liver disease. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take this medication.

Some conditions are treated with a combination of rabeprazole and antibiotics. To best treat your condition, use all of your medications as directed by your doctor. Be sure to read the medication guide or patient instructions provided with each of your medications. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without advice from your doctor.

FDA pregnancy category B. This medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.

It is not known whether rabeprazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Other Info:

Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Rabeprazole is usually given for 4 to 8 weeks only. Your doctor may recommend a second course of treatment if you need additional healing time.

When treating H. pylori infection, rabeprazole may be needed for only 7 days. Follow your doctor’s instructions.

Take this medicine with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.

Rabeprazole may be taken with or without food.

Do not crush, break, or chew a rabeprazole tablet. Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking or crushing the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time.

Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your symptoms may get better before your treatment is completed.

Store rabeprazole at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Q: Seriously, why would they name an acid reflux medicine,?
AcipHex? It sounds like ass effects. lol It’s too much!! Every time the commercial comes on tv, I lmao!! I have acid reflux myself, so I’m not laughing at the disease. Just the clowns who named this new med!
lmao Nolte, you found a good one!! Thanks!

((((((((SHAWN))))))) I have no idea what that even is, sweetie! lol I haven’t been here in a while. I don’t think you did though.
((((((((LILITH)))))))) HI, sweetie!!
((((((((DARTY)))))))) My stomach would literally murder me if I put pepper capsules in it! I stood, accidentally, in front of a lazer a kid in school had made. No kidding. About 10 minutes. The little flap that closes your esophagus to your stomach? Mine is gone now because of the lazer. I thought it was just a light. I was late for class as usual. So, I was altered. hehe
lol (((((((MORETOO)))))))) You are trying to turn me into a bomb!

A: I know, right? And why would they call an osteoporosis medicine Boniva (pronounced BONE-eeva)? Sounds like a more suiting name for an erectile dysfunction drug.

Q: Which of these are the best acid reflux medicines?
That work the best with little to no side effects?

Nexium
Aciphex
Protonix
ALSO: is it true that you can cure acid reflux without medicines, like naturally? or is it a lie?

A: These three are all in the same class of medications (proton pump inhibitors, or PPI’s). Of the three I think Aciphex is the more potent, but also the most expensive. They all have similar side effects. If you’re going to use a PPI, you might try prilosec first as it is available over the counter. You may also be limited in what you can get based on what your insurance company is willing to pay for. Usually they only have one or two meds from each class on their formulary. You may consider other meds such as Zantac or Prevacid that have a different mechanism. The best one is the one that works best for you. There is no clear “best” when it comes to anti-reflux meds. Many people have to try a few different ones before finding one that works well for them. Good luck!
